Ayalon Institute

Gustavo Fring wasn't a genius, he was a copycat! Way before Breaking Bad, Israelis built a clandestine bullet factory under a kibbutz laundry facility near Rehovot.

Right under the British forces' nose, and concealed under the Kibbutz's laundry room and bakery, this covert operation played a crucial role in supplying the ammunition required by the Jewish forces during the struggle for independence.

Operated in secret through elaborate camouflage and strict security measures, the underground factory produced millions of bullets between between 1945 and 1948.

The Ayalon Institute (also known as Machon Ayalon) stands as a testament to the resourcefulness and determination of the Jewish community in the face of adversity, contributing significantly to the establishment of the State of Israel.

The tour is guided and it is a must do for anyone who is interested in the history of Israel and the resourcefulness of our people.

Where is it and how to get there?
